Bar Therapy: Lägereld's Psychologists Move Into the Bar
Carlsberg Sweden came to us with a bold idea: what if the bar could become a place where mental health gets a seat at the table? Together with Pitcher's, we developed Bar Therapy – an initiative that gave bartenders tools, offered guests a lower threshold to support, and showed that help doesn't have to be far away.

Bartenders have always listened
It's a part of the job that few talk about, but many encounter almost every evening. In Bar Therapy, we took that reality seriously.
Training and tools for bar staff
Lägereld developed a digital training program and a film for bar staff, focusing on recognizing signs that someone is struggling, responding with care and professionalism, and setting clear boundaries. The bartender shouldn't have to carry other people's burdens – but needs tools for what they already encounter.
Psychologists in the bar environment
We also placed psychologists from Lägereld on-site in the bar environment. Not to conduct therapy between pint glasses, but to show that support can be close, accessible, and far less intimidating than many think. Together with the Bar Therapy test – a quick check-in on how you're feeling – we created a chain where every step became easier to take.

A scalable initiative
The ambition is for the training to reach all bartenders at Pitcher's in Sweden, and eventually more of Carlsberg's clients. Not as a one-off, but as a model for how service professions can get better tools to meet people with both confidence and clarity.
For us at Lägereld, Bar Therapy represents what we believe in most: that psychological knowledge makes the biggest difference when it moves out into reality – to where people already are.
